As the earth spins the frozen tree limbs await the spring, and I wait. My loyalty has never been on trial, chipped tooth and unbearable pain yet I can still smile. It's said to be careful what you wish for and I wished reckless, so I'm left with a dog and her dog tags hung from my necklace. My wish for a Christmas present is her presence.... her breath, her touch, her essence. Cold exterior as if I stood in front of my fathers mirror, but the reflection is deception.... I must see clearer. Clutched photograph in hand as I stare at the world so overcast waiting for time to pass, her smile could make it bright at midnight. Careful what you wish for you just may get it, now I only wish to keep it. -LIV
This is really good stuff, my friend. She's coming back to you, I wish you could have her for the holidays too, It would be great to hear the sound of total elation in your voice when she comes back home - and I'm sure it will show in your writing as well, as it already has, I can see the change in your perspectives, ridden on the rollercoaster with you, and listened actively to your responses, critticisms and witticisms. You know where you are always welcome to come to for Christmas, you got family right here....you and your should-be-wife are always welcome...
ReplyDeleteThe shit, it is almost over, brother, just hang in there, and reist the temptation of tilting the bottle (it causes appendicitis) HA
I do agree with trix. You have really come a long way. A rollercoaster ride that makes the amusement parks jealous. Yet, after all that you can jump back up and write some real beautiful stuff. The change in you is great. I can see it everyday. I hear it in your voice, read it in your writing and soon we will see it in your face. This last part of waiting and not knowing will be the hardest but it will get better sooner than you think. Yes , your shift is almost over and soon you will start a new one much better than the last.
ReplyDeleteSo, if I may quote trix...." resist the temptation " . I LOVE YOU !
